Learn the latest about wildfire preparedness and prevention, grab a free BBQ lunch, and help us celebrate a milestone—OFSC’s fifth anniversary—at our Community Barbecue and Wildfire Preparedness Fair at the Meeting Hall on May 17.
Produced in partnership with the Encinitas Fire Department and Olivenhain Town Council, this unforgettable event will feature a free barbecue lunch, courtesy of the fire department, and birthday cake courtesy of OFSC, plus booths (with swag) from a host of agencies and nonprofits, and vendors specializing in wildfire preparedness and prevention products and services.
There will be a silent auction featuring such unique opportunities as a firehouse dinner for 6, donated by the Encinitas Firefighters Association; a culinary tour of Encinitas, with gift cards from restaurants throughout the city; one-of-a-kind turned wooden vessels by Jim Hoch, using wood salvaged from an Olivenhain tree, and more; an opportunity drawing; and instant-win mystery game. There will be kids’ activities as well, and CAL-FIRE’s mascot, Captain Cal, will put in an appearance, posing for photos with young, old and everyone in between.
To date, these agencies and organizations are confirmed participants: Encinitas Fire Department, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, San Diego Humane Society, CAL-FIRE, Red Cross, Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Burn Institute, Nature Collective, and California Native Plant Society.
These vendors are confirmed: Frontline Wildfire Defense, San Diego County Solar, Lucia Risk Reduction & Fire Protection Consulting, All-Risk Shield, Wildfire Home Hardening Specialists, Lindsey Fire Sense, Ember Pro, Hume Termite, Mighty Fire Breaker, and John Torres, general contractor and principal, American Rain Gutters.
And the Olivenhain Fire Safe Council is most grateful to the following businesses and friends for donating to the silent auction and opportunity drawing.
